Food Pantry -

Families and individuals in need in Clark County made 12,653 client visits to our food pantry resulting in approximately 192,756 lbs. of food being given out. Our wonderful volunteer force very ably handled the distribution of this daunting amount of food. Many churches, scout groups, civic groups and schools have conducted food drives for CLM in this fiscal year. Our annual Spring Food Drive – traditionally a reliable conduit for food into the pantry – fell far short of its goal this year. The several thousand lbs. collected was, of course, much needed, but below our expectations. In the Christmas Food Basket project 615 families were interviewed, up almost 10% from last year. Churches and other groups and individuals helped by providing baskets for 274 of those families, down 10% from last year, while the CLM prepared 368 baskets for the rest of the families, up 26% from last year. This type of joint effort is what makes addressing hunger in our county work. Funds put into service: $50,810.
